Regular checks

The first pregnancy check-up takes place around 9-10 weeks pregnancy. During this first check you will meet 1 of the 4 midwives. On average there will be 10-12 follow-up check-ups , so you will get to know all four of us during these check- ups. This way you will be familiar with the person who will monitor you during your delivery.

The first check

The first check is more extensive than the follow-up checks and therefore takes longer. In general it takes a maximum of 1 hour. We request that you come to the appointment on time.
If you are unable to attend, please let us know by telephone at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise we will have to charge you for the consultation.

Which information is of importance to us?

Previous pregnancies

• If you have been pregnant before and have a medical file of this pregnancy, please bring it with you.

Medical history

• Are you in good health at the moment?
• Are you currently on medication? If so, which medication and what is the dosage?
• Are you allergic to certain medication? If so, which medication?
• Have you currently received treatment of a specialist? Or have you been treated by a specialist in the past?
• Have you ever had operations? Blood transfusions

Family history

Hereditary diseases or birth defects run in some families. Therefore, check with your own family and the family of your partner whether this is the case.
If your doctor has already requested a blood test and / or an ultrasound? In that case we kindly request you to collect the results of the test from your doctor and take them with you to the first check-up.

Follow-up checks

After we have assessed your medical history, we will also do some physical checks. We measure your blood pressure and perform an external examination of your pregnant belly. The growth of the uterus and later in the pregnancy the growth and position of the baby is checked.

From approximately 12 weeks of pregnancy we can to let you hear the heart of the baby. If we find it necessary to check your urine, we will indicate this in advance.
After the check-up you will receive your printed pregnancy file.
