Medication
You may need to take certain medication during your pregnancy. Always do this in consultation with your doctor or treating specialist. In some cases, it may be better to switch to other medication or a modified dosage, more suitable for use during pregnancy.
Furthermore, there are all kinds of medicines available without a prescription at the pharmacy, drugstore and supermarket. Always read the package insert before use, to see if this medication is safe during pregnancy. When in doubt, always consult your doctor.
Paracetamol, without further additives such as caffeine or codeine, can be used safely during pregnancy. Maximum 4×2 tablets of 500 mg per 24 hours. All other pain relief and fever reducers, such as ibuprofen, are not recommended. In case of persistent complaints of pain or fever, contact your doctor.

Chemicals and radiation
During pregnancy, try to avoid contact with chemicals (turpentine-based paint, pesticides, etc.) as much as possible.
If you work with chemicals or radiation, check with your employer whether this is safe.
Hair dye has no known consequences.
Paints with lead-based solvents are not recommended during pregnancy.
If an X-ray examination is necessary during your pregnancy, notify that you are pregnant.

Sauna and solarium
Not enough is known about the effects of a high ambient temperature during pregnancy.
Therefore, a visit to the sauna or the solarium is not recommended before the 12th week of pregnancy. After this period, we advise you to be cautious about heating up in the sauna and advise to cool down on time. You may be more likely to experience dizziness. If this is the case, it is better to skip the sauna.
Tanning in a solarium or in the sun, can cause a pregnancy mask (brown discoloration of the facial skin, except the skin around the eyes). This fades after pregnancy, but does not go away completely. Not everyone is equally sensitive to it. Caution while sunbathing and good sunscreen is advisable.
